Cavs HISTORY IN THE MAKING Anthem

Sestor and 7 Complete came here to the Synergy Studio to have me record, mix and master their new hit, “History in the Making.” This is the Cavs 2010 Playoff Anthem. James Cuccia tracked 7’s vocals. Sestor tracked out his music from his keyboard. Then I did some engineer magic, tied it all together.

There’s another Cavs video out, which is nice. But I think the most noise should come from 7 and Sestor because it’s a totally original song. All together, let’s make a name for Cleveland.

Words Of Wisdom, Ross from Radiation Radio

Hey, I’m Ross from the DJ group Radiation Radio. My friend Austin and myself are co-owners of this group, and are students under DeeJay Doc, and have some tips for you on how we’re becoming successful with our work.

With our songs, we usually don’t have an exact idea for what we want it to sound like. We come up with a basis of what it needs to contain and how it will flow, but for the most part, we wing it. And for our song “XP”, we compiled our samples from the Windows XP operating system, with a base idea that we wanted to make a song out of these sounds. We had a few ideas of parts of the song that we really wanted to make happen, but for the most part, we didn’t have it planned out. So we just played around with our samples for a while, and discovered a lot of really cool stuff we could do. And from there, we made our song, “XP”.

With this song, we really wanted to prove that with creativity, the youth of today can come up with anything. Any idea can become something amazing that you never thought could bring you success. So as a group, Radiation Radio encourages you to try something you’d thought wasn’t possible, but wanted to do. Because who knows where it could lead you.

We we were glad to have mixed and mastered this new album by Sole called, “Plastique.” He is the founder of Anticon Records and is hitting the road hard with this release. Here’s a review of the CD. You can preorder here. And if you want to get to know him further, check out this interview. More emcee’s should speak what’s really on their mind. Or maybe more emcee’s think about stuff, so they can then speak what’s on their mind. Sole does that.

Sestor’s CD Release: a success

Wow, this was one of the most energetic performances I’ve been a part of in a while. As planned, his CD’s arrived the day of the release (I don’t recommend doing this, but this time, no snags). Man it was great to play with these talented musicians:

Who is SesTor?
SesTor is a Christian Rap Artist from Nigeria, living in Cleveland, Ohio with his beautiful wife and kids. He is first and foremost passionate about pursuing after Gods Kingdom, and being a voice of hope to this and coming generations. I offer top quality, high energy Christian Hip Hop, often performing with my live band. The new CD, “Tha Chronicles Of Junglistic Hip Hop is scheduled to release on 8/28/09. This, mostly self-produced album, proves to be my greatest work yet and it features artists like Grits, and scratches by Dee Jay Doc.

What do you hope to accomplish with this CD?
I hope to present Jesus to a generation that knows more about materialism and self-centeredness.

What will it take for you to get this music into people’s hands?
The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 10:19 that “money is the answer for everything.” It’s not saying that money should be worshiped and placed above God, but money should be put to work, so we really do need support from CD sales, Sponsorships, etc. God uses people to bless people so we need support from good people.

How do you produce your music? Are there some live instruments as well?
One of my mentors once said it’s 5% inspiration and 95% work, so I’m not scared to take ideas I get in my head and work them; sometimes for hours, weeks, even years. My productions are a good mix of live instruments and programmed stuff; as long as it sounds nice, it’s all good.

What advice do you have for other musicians trying to find a studio to record in?
Prayerfully look for studios/producers/engineers who are on the same page with you, spiritually and musically cos “iron sharpeneth iron,” or “bad company corrupts good character.” I work with the Synergy Studio, Cleveland, Ohio ‘cos they are serious, creative hard working individuals who can help take your music to level next.
